Quick answer

A tree service estimate needs your business details and license number, the customer and job address, one line per task and material with quantity and price, the total, any deposit, what is excluded, and a place to approve. The template below is the generic contractor estimate pre-filled with a tree service job so you can see what good looks like, plus the exclusions tree service pros most often forget. It's free, printable, and there's no sign-up.

Exclusions to put on every tree service estimate

  • Stump ground about 6 inches below grade; chips left in the hole unless removal is listed.
  • Customer confirms the property line for trees near the fence.
  • Sprinkler lines and landscaping in the drop zone protected where marked; unmarked lines are not the contractor's responsibility.
  • Permits for protected trees, if required, not included unless listed.

Terms that fit tree service work

Valid for 30 days. Weather may move the date. Deposit due on approval if listed; balance due on completion by card, bank transfer or check.

What matters in tree service estimates

  • Identify each tree. "Large oak, back yard" ends any confusion about which tree you meant.
  • Cleanup on its own line. Keeps your tree price comparable with other bids.
  • Say how deep you grind. And whether chips stay or go. Customers ask.
  • Protect the drop zone. Note sprinklers, beds and fences, and who is responsible for what.
