Electrical estimate template
A worked electrical example, the exclusions that matter in this trade, and a PDF you can print. No sign-up.
A electrical estimate needs your business details and license number, the customer and job address, one line per task and material with quantity and price, the total, any deposit, what is excluded, and a place to approve. The template below is the generic contractor estimate pre-filled with a electrical job so you can see what good looks like, plus the exclusions electricians most often forget. It's free, printable, and there's no sign-up.

The example rows are in grey; write over them. Blank rows below for your own lines, then tax, deposit, exclusions, terms and a signature line. The blank version has no example.

Worked example: Replace two tripping breakers with AFCI breakers, test circuits, update panel directory
| Line | Qty | Price | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Labor: replace breakers, test circuits | 1.5 hr | $110.00 | $165.00 |
| AFCI breaker, 20A 1-pole | 2 ea | $62.00 | $124.00 |
| Update panel directory | 1 ea | $35.00 | $35.00 |
| Total before tax | $324.00 |
Example prices only; use yours. In Settle you'd say this job out loud and it writes these lines from the prices you charged last time.
Exclusions to put on every electrical estimate
- Does not include wiring repairs found in the walls or junction boxes.
- Panel replacement or service upgrade quoted separately.
- Permit and inspection fees billed at cost where required.
- Drywall repair after any wall access is not included.
Terms that fit electrical work
Valid for 30 days. Work is performed to current code; anything found that fails inspection is quoted before it continues. License # shown above. Balance due on completion.
What matters in electrical estimates
- Put your license number on it. Most states require it on electrical estimates, and Nevada requires it on every bid and contract (NRS 624.720). Customers look for it.
- Separate the panel from the circuit work. A breaker swap and a service upgrade are different jobs with different permits. Keep them on different estimates.
- Name the breaker type and rating. AFCI, GFCI, 20A, 1-pole. The spec is the price, and it stops a "that's just a breaker" conversation.
- Permits at cost. Write "at cost" instead of a guessed fee. You stay honest and the customer knows it's not markup.
