Quick answer

ProField is a field-service app for home-service pros built around inspection checklists and AI-written inspection reports, with scheduling, online booking, estimates, invoices and payments, on phone and a web dashboard. Settle is a free iPhone app for solo contractors with no cap on estimates or invoices, where payments go to your own Stripe account. Choose Settle if you work alone on an iPhone. Stay with ProField if you run inspections.

Why contractors look for a ProField alternative

The AI writes reports, not estimates

ProField's home page describes its AI as writing the inspection narrative from your checklist results, notes and photos in about 30 seconds. Estimates come from a pricebook, typed. If your job is quoting work from the driveway rather than documenting an inspection, that is the wrong tool. Settle writes the priced estimate from your spoken description.

There is no free plan, and the in-app price is $28.99

ProField is $19.99 a month with everything included after a 14-day trial, and its page says subscribing inside the iPhone app costs $28.99 because of Apple's fee. Settle's free plan has no trial clock, and Pro is $19.99 a month in the App Store.

0.5% on every card payment

ProField's payments section lists "Stripe fee + 0.5% platform fee" on card payments from the invoice link. Settle adds nothing on top of Stripe's rate.

When ProField is the better choice

  • You run inspections. Checklists that work offline, pass/fail per item, photos tied to findings, and a branded PDF report with a signature are ProField's whole product.
  • You schedule and assign technicians, want an online booking page, or run several locations under one account.
  • Your customers pay by Zelle or Venmo. ProField prints the QR codes on the invoice; Settle takes card, Apple Pay and bank transfer through Stripe.
  • You want Android or a web dashboard. Settle is iPhone only.

When Settle is not the right app

We would rather you know before you download:

  • iPhone only. There is no Android app and no web app.
  • No scheduling, dispatching, GPS or time tracking.
  • No QuickBooks sync. You can export everything to CSV.
  • One user per account. No crew or team logins.
  • Documents live on your phone. There is no sync between devices yet.
  • English only for now.
  • A new app from a small team. Most of the apps it competes with have been around for years.

How to switch from ProField

ProField's page says you can cancel anytime and that the web dashboard exports to CSV. Subscriptions started inside the iPhone app are cancelled through Apple. Download your reports and the CSV before you cancel.

There is nothing to import into Settle. Open the app, tap the orange button, and describe your next job. Your own prices are remembered from what you send, so your old price list doesn't need to come along.

Questions

Is Settle a good alternative to ProField?

Settle is a good alternative to ProField if you work alone, use an iPhone, and want no cap on how many estimates and invoices you send. It is not a replacement if you need scheduling, dispatch, a crew login, QuickBooks sync, or an Android or web app.

How much does ProField cost compared to Settle?

ProField: $19.99 a month for the owner seat (every feature included); $28.99 if you subscribe in the iPhone app; technicians $9.99 each, extra locations $10. Cheapest plan: One plan, $19.99 a month on the web. No document cap listed. Settle's free plan sends unlimited estimates and invoices; Settle Pro is $19.99 a month or $149.99 a year and adds unlimited AI-written drafts. Prices checked November 3, 2026.

Can I export my data from ProField before I switch?

ProField's page says you can cancel anytime and that the web dashboard exports to CSV. Subscriptions started inside the iPhone app are cancelled through Apple. Download your reports and the CSV before you cancel.

Does Settle hold my money?

No. Customers pay through a link, and the payment goes to a Stripe account in your own name. Settle takes no cut and is never in the money path. Stripe sets payout timing and still runs its own identity and risk checks, as it does for any business.
