How much does Wave cost?
Wave's invoicing is free. Its card fee has a bigger fixed part than most, and that's where a busy contractor pays.
Wave's Starter plan is free with unlimited estimates and invoices, and charges 2.9% + 60¢ per card payment (3.4% + 60¢ for Amex). Pro is $190 a year (or $19 a month billed monthly) and drops the 60¢ on the first 10 card payments each month, then it's 2.9% + 60¢ again. Pro also adds bank-transaction import, receipt capture and automatic late reminders.

What the 60¢ costs you
On a $1,500 card payment, Wave Starter's fee is $44.10; Stripe's standard 2.9% + 30¢ is $43.80. The difference is small per invoice and adds up with volume: 20 card payments a month is about $72 a year more in fixed fees. Pro removes the 60¢ on the first 10 payments a month.
Starter or Pro?
If you want bookkeeping, bank feeds and automatic reminders in one place, Pro at $190 a year is inexpensive. If you only need to quote and invoice, Starter's free invoicing is enough, and the card fee is the cost to watch.
The alternative
