How much does Square Invoices cost?
Square Invoices is free to use, and Square earns on the payments. Here's what each plan charges, from Square's own pricing page.
Square Invoices has a Free plan at $0 a month that charges 3.3% + 30¢ on online invoice payments. Square Plus is $49 a month per location and drops online payments to 2.9% + 30¢, with payment schedules, custom templates and a $10 cap on ACH bank transfers. Premium is $149 a month per location with the lowest in-person rate and 24/7 phone support. Plus and Premium have a 30-day free trial.

What the fee difference is worth
On a $2,000 invoice paid online, the Free plan's fee is $66.30 and Plus's is $58.30, a difference of $8. Plus costs $49 a month, so the lower rate alone pays for itself only above roughly $12,000 a month in online invoice payments. Most solo contractors upgrade for the features, not the fee.
