For garage door techs
A garage door repair estimate and invoice app
Diagnose it, say what it needs, and get a yes before you touch the springs.
Settle fits garage door repair because the price is set in the driveway after you diagnose. Say the service call, parts and labor out loud and Settle writes a priced estimate from your own rates. Text the estimate from your own phone, the customer approves from a link, and when the job's done they pay by card or bank to your own Stripe account. Sending unlimited estimates and invoices is free. It's iPhone only and doesn't do scheduling or dispatch.
What a garage door repair estimate looks like
After looking at the door you say: "Service call, replace both torsion springs, ten new nylon rollers, and lube and tune the opener and door." Settle writes:
| Line | Qty | Price | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Service call | 1 | $89.00 | $89.00 |
| Torsion springs, replace pair | 1 pair | $285.00 | $285.00 |
| Nylon rollers | 10 ea | $8.00 | $80.00 |
| Lubricate and tune-up | 1 | $45.00 | $45.00 |
| Total before tax | $499.00 |
Example prices only. Settle uses your own rates, and marks any price it had to guess with an orange dot.

What matters in garage door repair estimates
- Show the service call separately. Customers ask what they pay if they say no. One line answers it.
- Name the parts. "Pair of torsion springs" and "10 nylon rollers" are clearer than "parts."
- Offer the add-ons as their own lines. Rollers, cables and a tune-up are choices. Separate lines let the customer pick without a new estimate.
- Warranty in one line. Say how long parts and labor are covered.
- Get the yes before you start. Approval in writing before you unwind a spring protects you if the customer disputes the bill later.
What Settle does for garage door techs, and what it doesn't
It's built for pricing the job in front of you. Describe the work, fix any price with an orange dot, and tap Send: Messages opens with the text written, the estimate link and the PDF attached, from your own number. You see when the customer opens it and when they tap Approve. After the job, one tap turns the estimate into an invoice with a pay link. The money lands in a Stripe account in your name; Settle takes no cut and never holds it.
Settle doesn't book calls, dispatch techs, or track parts inventory. There's no Android or web version. If you run several trucks, a field-service tool like Jobber or Housecall Pro is built for that; compare them on the comparison page.
Garage door repair questions
What is the best estimate app for a solo garage door tech?
For a one-truck tech on an iPhone who prices in the driveway, Settle is free to send unlimited estimates and invoices, writes the estimate from what you say using your own rates, and pays to your own Stripe account. If you dispatch several techs or run online booking, Workiz, Jobber or Housecall Pro are built for that.
Can I get the customer to approve before I start?
Yes. Send the estimate by text; the customer taps Approve on the link and you see their name and the time.
Can Settle draft an estimate from photos?
Yes. Take up to 3 photos and Settle uses them, along with what you say, to draft the estimate. The photos stay with the job in the app; they aren't added to the PDF or the estimate page your customer sees.
Quote your next door by talking.
Free on iPhone. Unlimited estimates and invoices. 7 days of Pro to try the voice drafts, and you cancel in two taps.
