For concrete contractors

A concrete estimate and invoice app

Tape the slab, say the numbers, and send the price before the customer calls the next bid.

Published November 4, 2026 · by Settle

Quick answer

Settle fits concrete flatwork because the price comes from what you measure. Say the square footage, thickness, tear-out and finish out loud and Settle writes a priced estimate from your own rates. Text the estimate from your own phone, the customer approves from a link, and when the job's done they pay by card or bank to your own Stripe account. Sending unlimited estimates and invoices is free. It's iPhone only and doesn't do takeoffs from plans or crew scheduling.

What a concrete estimate looks like

Standing on the driveway you say: "Break out 240 square feet of cracked driveway, grade and add gravel, pour four inch with rebar, broom finish, saw-cut the joints." Settle writes:

LineQtyPriceTotal
Break out and haul old concrete240 sq ft$3.00$720.00
Grade and compact base, add gravel240 sq ft$1.50$360.00
Pour 4 in slab with rebar, broom finish240 sq ft$9.00$2,160.00
Saw-cut control joints1 ea$120.00$120.00
Total before tax$3,360.00

Example prices only. Settle uses your own rates, and marks any price it had to guess with an orange dot.

What matters in concrete estimates

  • Square feet and thickness. "240 sq ft, 4 inch" lets the customer compare bids line for line.
  • Tear-out is its own line. Breaking and hauling old concrete is real work and disposal cost.
  • Say what's normal. Hairline cracks happen. Say that control joints reduce them but don't prevent them.
  • Call 811. Put on the estimate that utilities get located before you dig.
  • Keep validity short. Concrete prices move. See how long an estimate should be valid.

What Settle does for concrete contractors, and what it doesn't

Tape the slab, say the square footage, thickness and tear-out, and check any price marked with an orange dot. The estimate goes out from your own number before the customer calls the next bid. Bigger pours can carry a deposit line, collected with an invoice pay link before you order concrete. You see when the customer opens and approves it. Payments land in a Stripe account in your name; Settle takes no cut and never holds the money.

Settle doesn't do takeoffs from plans, order concrete, schedule pours, or track a crew. There's no Android or web version. If you run several crews, a field-service tool like Jobber is built for that; compare them on the comparison page.

Worth telling the customer

811 is the FCC-designated national number for "call before you dig." Locating underground utility lines is free, and you call a few business days before digging; how many depends on your state. Saying on the estimate who calls 811 protects you and the customer.

Concrete questions

What is the best estimate app for a small concrete contractor?

For a small flatwork contractor on an iPhone who prices on site, Settle is free to send unlimited estimates and invoices, writes the estimate from what you say using your own rates, and pays to your own Stripe account. For plan takeoffs and pour scheduling, a construction estimating tool is built for that.

Should I take a deposit on a concrete job?

Usually, to cover materials, within your state's limit. California caps home improvement down payments at $1,000 or 10%, whichever is less. See the deposit limit calculator.

How should I price concrete work?

By the square foot at a set thickness, with tear-out, base prep and finish on their own lines. The job price calculator helps with labor and materials markup.

Can Settle draft an estimate from photos?

Yes. Take up to 3 photos and Settle uses them, along with what you say, to draft the estimate. The photos stay with the job in the app; they aren't added to the PDF or the estimate page your customer sees.
