Quick answer

A tile estimate needs your business details and license number, the customer and job address, one line per task and material with quantity and price, the total, any deposit, what is excluded, and a place to approve. The template below is the generic contractor estimate pre-filled with a tile job so you can see what good looks like, plus the exclusions tile setters most often forget. It's free, printable, and there's no sign-up.

Exclusions to put on every tile estimate

  • Subfloor repair found after tear-out is priced before continuing.
  • Customer supplies tile; order 10 to 15% extra for cuts and breakage.
  • Grout color chosen by the customer before work starts.
  • Plumbing beyond resetting the toilet not included.

Terms that fit tile work

Valid for 30 days. Deposit due on approval if listed; balance due on completion by card, bank transfer or check.

What matters in tile estimates

  • Square feet, tile size and who supplies. "60 sq ft, 12x24 porcelain, customer supplies" settles three questions at once.
  • Tear-out and prep are separate lines. Demo, membrane and leveling are where the hours go.
  • Write the subfloor clause. You can't see the subfloor until the old tile is up.
  • Say how much extra tile to buy. Customers who buy exactly the square footage run short.
