How contractor invoice app prices changed, 2022 to 2026
Prices on an invoice app's pricing page are a snapshot. The archive shows the trend.
Between 2022 and 2026, list prices went up at two of the three apps we could trace. Joist's free Starter plan became Basics, capped at 5 documents in early 2024 and then paid ($8 a month by late 2024, $10 in 2026); Pro went from $13 to $17 a month. Housecall Pro's Basic plan went from $49 a month to $79 month-to-month ($59 billed annually). Jobber's Core plan is $49 month-to-month, the same as in 2022, with a cheaper annual price added.

The free plan is the big change. In 2022 Joist had a free Starter plan; by January 2024 the free plan was capped at 5 documents, and by November 2024 the entry plan cost money. Pro rose about 31% over four years ($13 to $17). Elite moved once, from $30 to $32.
Housecall Pro
| Archived | Basic | Essentials | Max |
|---|---|---|---|
| May 2022 | $49/mo | $129/mo | Not listed with a price |
| Feb 2024 | $69 monthly, $49 billed annually | $169 monthly, $129 billed annually | Not listed with a price |
| Jun 2025 | $79 monthly, $59 billed annually | $189 monthly, $149 billed annually | $329 monthly, $299 billed annually |
| Jun 2026 | $79 monthly, $59 billed annually | $189 monthly, $149 billed annually | $329 monthly, $299 billed annually |
In May 2022 the page showed one price per plan and offered savings with annual pricing. By 2024 the page showed two prices, and the old headline price had become the annual one: Basic was $49, and $49 was now the billed-annually price, with $69 month-to-month. By 2025 both went up again, to $79 and $59. For a single user paying monthly, that is $49 to $79, about 61% in three years.
Jobber
| When | Core | Next plan up |
|---|---|---|
| Jun 2022 | $49 monthly, $39 billed annually | Connect, $149 monthly, $119 billed annually |
| Today | $49 month-to-month, $39 with a one-year commitment, $29 billed annually | See Jobber pricing |
Jobber's month-to-month Core price is the same as in 2022. What changed is the shape: more plans, more ways to pay, and frequent promotions. Archived Jobber pages from 2023 to 2026 show sale prices and a plan-finder quiz layered over the list prices, so we didn't put those in the table.
What this means if you're choosing an app
- A free plan is not a promise. Joist's free plan got a cap and then a price. Look at what you'd pay if the free tier went away.
- Read which price is the monthly one. Two of these pages now lead with the annual price. If you want to cancel any time, the month-to-month number is your number.
- Price isn't the only cost. Card fees on every paid invoice usually cost more than the subscription. The card fee calculator compares them.
- Price complaints show up in reviews. Price was the top complaint in Joist's and Invoice Simple's recent 1- and 2-star reviews. See what contractors complain about.

How we did this
We opened archived copies of each app's public pricing page in the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, picked snapshots spread across 2022 to 2026, and wrote down the list prices shown in the page's HTML. Each date in the tables links to the snapshot we read; the Wayback Machine sends you to the closest capture to that date. Today's prices come from the live pricing pages, checked for our Joist, Housecall Pro and Jobber pricing pages.
Limits. Snapshots are irregular, so a price could have changed between two of them; the dates show when a price was seen, not when it started. Archived pages don't show promotions a logged-in visitor might get, taxes, or add-on fees. We left out Invoice Simple (its pricing page isn't archived) and Invoice2go (its prices load with JavaScript and aren't in the archived HTML). Settle is free with no document caps, and Settle Pro (AI drafts) is $19.99 a month; we're one of the apps you'd compare, so check the snapshots yourself.
Free, no document caps, and the money goes to your own Stripe account.
Free on iPhone. Unlimited estimates and invoices. 7 days of Pro to try the voice drafts, and you cancel in two taps.
