A handyman estimate needs your business details and license number, the customer and job address, one line per task and material with quantity and price, the total, any deposit, what is excluded, and a place to approve. The template below is the generic contractor estimate pre-filled with a handyman job so you can see what good looks like, plus the exclusions handymen most often forget. Exclusions to put on every handyman estimate
- Customer supplies the TV bracket and paint for color match; touch-up only, no full wall repaint.
- Does not include electrical work behind the TV (new outlets or in-wall cable).
- Additional tasks found on site are added as separate lines before work starts.
Terms that fit handyman work
Valid for 14 days. Minimum visit charge applies. Payment due on completion by card, bank transfer or check.
What matters in handyman estimates
- One task per line. Handyman jobs are lists. When each task has its own price the customer can drop one without renegotiating the whole visit.
- Say what the customer supplies. Bracket, paint, hardware. It explains why your number is labor-only and who owns a part that doesn't fit.
- Keep a minimum visit line. Three small tasks can still be a two-hour trip. State your minimum so the first estimate isn't the last.
- Add-ons are new lines, not a new price. Customers always find one more thing. Add a line, get a nod, keep going.
