For tile setters

A tile estimate and invoice app

Measure the floor, say the job, and send the price before you leave the bathroom.

Published November 4, 2026 · by Settle

Quick answer

Settle fits tile work because the price comes from the measurements, the tile and the prep. Say it out loud and Settle writes a priced estimate from your own rates. Text the estimate from your own phone, the customer approves from a link, and when the job's done they pay by card or bank to your own Stripe account. Sending unlimited estimates and invoices is free. It's iPhone only and doesn't do scheduling.

What a tile estimate looks like

Standing in the bathroom you say: "Sixty square feet. Tear out the old tile, uncoupling membrane, install twelve by twenty-four porcelain they're supplying, grout and seal, pull and reset the toilet." Settle writes:

LineQtyPriceTotal
Remove old tile and thinset, haul away60 sq ft$4.00$240.00
Uncoupling membrane60 sq ft$2.50$150.00
Install 12x24 porcelain tile (customer supplies tile)60 sq ft$12.00$720.00
Grout and seal60 sq ft$1.50$90.00
Remove and reset toilet1 ea$125.00$125.00
Total before tax$1,325.00

Example prices only. Settle uses your own rates, and marks any price it had to guess with an orange dot.

What matters in tile estimates

  • Square feet, tile size and who supplies. "60 sq ft, 12x24 porcelain, customer supplies" settles three questions at once.
  • Demo and prep on their own lines. Tear-out, membrane and leveling are where the hours go.
  • The subfloor clause. You can't see it until the old tile is up. Say how you'll price repairs.
  • Tell them how much extra to buy. Customers who buy the exact square footage run short on cuts.
  • Grout color in writing. Agree it before you mix.

What Settle does for tile setters, and what it doesn't

Measure the room, say the square footage, the tile and the prep, and check any price marked with an orange dot. The estimate goes out from your own number, and you can add a deposit line, collected with an invoice pay link, before you order setting materials. You see when the customer opens and approves it. Payments land in a Stripe account in your name; Settle takes no cut and never holds the money.

Settle doesn't do layout drawings, order tile, or track a crew. There's no Android or web version. If you run several crews, a field-service tool like Jobber is built for that; compare them on the comparison page.

Tile questions

What is the best estimate app for a tile setter?

For a solo tile setter on an iPhone who prices on site, Settle is free to send unlimited estimates and invoices, writes the estimate from what you say using your own rates, and pays to your own Stripe account.

Should I charge by the square foot or by the job?

Most tile setters price install by the square foot and list demo, prep and extras as separate lines, which makes the total easy to check. The job price calculator helps you set the rate.

What if the subfloor is bad?

Put a line on the estimate saying subfloor repair is priced before you continue, then send a change order when you find it.

Can Settle draft an estimate from photos?

Yes. Take up to 3 photos and Settle uses them, along with what you say, to draft the estimate. The photos stay with the job in the app; they aren't added to the PDF or the estimate page your customer sees.

Quote your next tile job by talking.

Free on iPhone. Unlimited estimates and invoices. 7 days of Pro to try the voice drafts, and you cancel in two taps.
