A tree service estimate and invoice app

Walk the yard, name each tree, and send the price before you leave the curb.

Published November 4, 2026 · by Settle

Quick answer

Settle fits tree work because the price is set walking the yard with the customer. Say each tree, the work and the cleanup out loud and Settle writes a priced estimate from your own rates. Text the estimate from your own phone, the customer approves from a link, and when the job's done they pay by card or bank to your own Stripe account. Sending unlimited estimates and invoices is free. It's iPhone only and doesn't do scheduling or dispatch.

What a tree service estimate looks like

In the backyard you say: "Crown thin the big oak, take the dead limbs off over the roof, haul the debris, and grind the stump by the fence." Settle writes:

LineQtyPriceTotal
Crown thinning, large oak (back yard)1$650.00$650.00
Remove dead limbs over roof1$275.00$275.00
Haul away debris1 load$150.00$150.00
Stump grinding, by fence1$175.00$175.00
Total before tax$1,250.00

Example prices only. Settle uses your own rates, and marks any price it had to guess with an orange dot.

What matters in tree service estimates

  • Identify each tree. "Large oak, back yard" on the line ends any confusion about which tree you meant.
  • Cleanup and haul-away on their own lines. Customers compare tree prices; showing cleanup separately keeps the comparison fair.
  • Say what stays. Firewood rounds left stacked, or everything hauled. Customers ask.
  • Stump grinding depth and chips. Say how deep you grind and whether chips are left or removed.
  • Access and property. Note gate width, lawn protection, and who's responsible for sprinkler lines or landscaping in the drop zone.

What Settle does for tree service pros, and what it doesn't

It's built for pricing the job in front of you. Describe the work, fix any price with an orange dot, and tap Send: Messages opens with the text written, the estimate link and the PDF attached, from your own number. You see when the customer opens it and when they tap Approve. After the job, one tap turns the estimate into an invoice with a pay link. The money lands in a Stripe account in your name; Settle takes no cut and never holds it.

Settle doesn't book calls, dispatch techs, or track parts inventory. There's no Android or web version. If you run several trucks, a field-service tool like Jobber or Housecall Pro is built for that; compare them on the comparison page.

Tree service questions

What is the best estimate app for a small tree service?

For an owner-operator on an iPhone who prices in the yard, Settle is free to send unlimited estimates and invoices, writes the estimate from what you say using your own rates, and pays to your own Stripe account. If you run multiple crews and need scheduling, Jobber or a tree-care platform is built for that.

Should I take a deposit on tree removal?

For large jobs it's common. You can add a deposit percentage to any estimate; check your state's limit in how much deposit to ask for.

Can Settle draft an estimate from photos?

Yes. Take up to 3 photos and Settle uses them, along with what you say, to draft the estimate. The photos stay with the job in the app; they aren't added to the PDF or the estimate page your customer sees.

Quote your next tree job by talking.

Free on iPhone. Unlimited estimates and invoices. 7 days of Pro to try the voice drafts, and you cancel in two taps.
