For chimney sweeps

A chimney sweep estimate and invoice app

Come down off the roof, say what you found, and the customer has a price before you pack the brushes.

Published November 4, 2026 · by Settle

Quick answer

Settle fits chimney work because the price comes from the inspection. Say it out loud and Settle writes a priced estimate from your own rates. Text the estimate from your own phone, the customer approves from a link, and when the job's done they pay by card or bank to your own Stripe account. Sending unlimited estimates and invoices is free. It's iPhone only and doesn't do scheduling or inspection report forms.

What a chimney sweep estimate looks like

After the inspection you say: "Sweep the wood-burning fireplace chimney, inspection with photos at no charge, install a stainless rain cap." Settle writes:

LineQtyPriceTotal
Chimney sweep, wood-burning fireplace1 ea$225.00$225.00
Visual inspection with photos1 ea$0.00$0.00
Stainless steel rain cap, installed1 ea$185.00$185.00
Total before tax$410.00

Example prices only. Settle uses your own rates, and marks any price it had to guess with an orange dot.

What matters in chimney estimates

  • Say what kind of chimney. Wood-burning, gas or insert changes the work and the price.
  • Show the free inspection. A $0 line is a reason to book.
  • Repairs are a second estimate. Quote crown, liner or masonry work after the inspection.
  • Creosote surprises. Say heavy glazed creosote is quoted separately if you find it.
  • What you need from the customer. No fire for 24 hours and a clear path to the hearth.

What Settle does for chimney sweeps, and what it doesn't

Come down off the roof, say the sweep and anything the inspection turned up, and check any price marked with an orange dot. The estimate goes out from your own number. Repairs you spot can go on a second estimate, so the customer can approve the sweep and decide on the rest later. You see when the customer opens and approves it. Payments land in a Stripe account in your name; Settle takes no cut and never holds the money.

Settle doesn't fill out inspection report forms, schedule annual sweeps, or track a crew. Photos you take help draft the estimate but stay in the app; they aren't added to what the customer sees, so send inspection photos separately. There's no Android or web version.

Worth telling the customer

The national fire code standard for chimneys, NFPA 211, says chimneys, fireplaces and vents should be inspected at least once a year, according to the Chimney Safety Institute of America. Sweeping depends on buildup rather than the calendar. Putting that on the estimate explains why you recommend an annual visit.

Chimney sweep questions

What is the best estimate app for a chimney sweep?

For a one-person chimney business on an iPhone, Settle is free to send unlimited estimates and invoices, writes the estimate from what you say using your own prices, and pays to your own Stripe account. For inspection report forms, a dedicated inspection tool is built for that.

Should I quote repairs on the same visit?

Quote the sweep up front, then send repairs as a separate estimate after the inspection so the customer can decide on each.

How do I get paid before I leave?

Turn the approved estimate into an invoice and text the pay link from the driveway. See how to get paid faster.

Can Settle draft an estimate from photos?

Yes. Take up to 3 photos and Settle uses them, along with what you say, to draft the estimate. The photos stay with the job in the app; they aren't added to the PDF or the estimate page your customer sees.
